Good morning y’all! I am sitting here in Magic Kingdom in that adorable little side alley with a big (by big I mean Trenta) iced coffee and I am so excited to be writing this review! I only just tried The Grand Floridian Cafe for the first time last month and it has quickly become my FAVORITE breakfast spot on property!
The Grand Floridian Cafe is a table service at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. Most breakfast and lunch items fall between $13-$16 and (for gluten-eating guests) breakfasts comes with a plate of biscuits. Considering the very large portion sizes for most dishes we’ve found it to not only be a delicious meal but also a great value.
The setting here is very bright, airy, and pretty. All the colors are very light and the huge windows give you tons of natural light as well as a great view of the absolutely beautiful grounds!
The gluten free menu is extensive, since they have gluten free bread and english muffins (and pancakes and waffles) they can really do almost anything gluten free! (I do always suggest asking for the allergy and the regular menu just to compare). They are also fantastic about modifying and will do all sorts of swaps so if you, for example, want the Madagascar Vanilla Bean Butter from the regular french toast on your gluten free pancakes they can do that! Just ask, they’re so helpful!
Every Disney breakfast I go to I have to try the iced coffee (seriously y’all a ranking of all the iced coffees in Disney is coming because I have tried a LOT and they’re all a little different!). This one, called a “frozen cappuccino” on the menu is very good, not as good as my absolute favorite Trattoria al Forno iced coffee, but possibly my second favorite. You can get it with vanilla, hazelnut, or caramel and the general consensus is GET THE HAZELNUT, they’re all good but hazelnut was the very clear favorite for me and everyone I’ve taken here!
One thing the Grand Floridian Cafe does that’s really unique are their “enhancements” these are collections of toppings (3 toppings and a sauce) for $3.50 that you can add to any pancake, waffle, or even french toast dish. They have three different ones but only the Banana, Chantilly Cream, Pecan, and Caramel Sauce one is gluten free (the other two are strawberries/cream/sugar cookies/strawberry sauce and blueberries/granola/lemon curd/ blueberry sauce). I think you could order the others and just ask to leave off or swap nuts for the gluten containing part.
This was absolutely fantastic. I’m honestly not a big sweet pancake/waffle person (I go the butter route) but this changed my mind. The chantilly cream and the warm caramel sauce were every bit as good as they sound and then some. I really enjoyed the sort of DIY aspect of this too getting to customize each bite, it was so fun!
They also have a signature pancake that they can do gluten free, their “Floridian Pancakes” with roasted pecans, cranberries, orange butter (pause a moment, this is SPECTACULAR), and mandarin oranges. This was super good but it was so sweet I don’t think I was even able to finish half of it.
Since they have gluten free breads you can also get the Eggs Benedict and Lobster Benedict (with poached eggs, hollandaise, and salad). This was very tasty but not quite as big of a portion as most of their dishes. Still a good sized meal but not quite as large as other items.
Also! It’s worth noting that a lunch/dinner review will be coming! I haven’t tried their lunch/dinner items but David has and one bite in he looked at me and said “this is my new favorite place on property” because the food was just that good!
Overall The Grand Floridian Cafe has some of the best breakfast food around, it’s reasonably priced, AND in case you needed more convincing, it’s never crowded! We’ve been able to get a table every single time we’ve wanted, there’s always people but it’s just never full in a really good, we can count on this place kind of way! Not to mention I’ll take any excuse to spend some time at The Grand Floridian because I find it so beautiful and relaxing. I highly encourage you to make a trip over here on your next visit! (In fact, if you saw our Morning in Magic Kingdom Youtube Video this is our number one spot for a late breakfast after an early morning in the parks!).
